Torridge Transition Leap

- An emerging platform and community of bottom up, inside out, participatory non-party political, activism, empowerment and transformation-

I hope you were all sufficiently stirred and inspired by our first meeting. There were a lot of great ideas and questions which were raised.

The next meeting will be in Thurs 27th Sept at 7:30pm at the Old Custom House, Bideford. Please spread the word on social media, word of mouth, forward this on to anyone who you think would be interested.

The agenda for next meeting:

  • What are the nuts and bolts of working together?
  • Strategy moving forward
  • What are the key areas that need to be addressed in our communities/Torridge?

For those who did not come click on the link below to see:

Issues raised in last meeting:

  • Most people who attended were of a similar age. We would like to invite more diversity, Youth especially.
  • Time of the meeting - most people thought the evening would work better around 7:30 pm.
  • Meeting frequency - There was a general consensus of twice a month probably the 2nd and 4th Thurs. We can confirm this at the next meeting however.
  • A good question was asked about whether there was any facilitation training? - Yes
  • Opening this up to the wider community to find out what are their needs, issues concerns are. East of the water etc.

Thank you to all those people who came forward and offered help. We would like to establish a large diverse group of people with a range of roles so we can scale this up and be more effective. On this note can you begin to consider what skills, knowledge, time, expertise, and any energy you can contribute to this movement?

We mentioned briefly about the digital democracy online platform. Have a look at the links below to see Bill the of Wrongs experiment which was done in just three short peoples assemblies at the recent Byline festival in East Sussex so you can get a sense of what can be done.

Here's a two minute clip:

an article about it

and the link to the Bill of Wrongs that remains live and monitored for analytics by Robert, the Icelandic bloke who set it up

To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
