Having recently asked South West Water for its record of sewage dumps into the Torridge estuary and around the local coastline I was horrified to read that the target date to clean up the nation’s rivers and coasts has been pushed back from 2027 to 2063.
The earlier date was set by the EU but following Brexit and the government’s ‘bonfire of red tape’ we have been presented with this astonishing retrograde step.
I look forward to letters in the Journal from Brexit supporters explaining how this is a ‘benefit’ of us leaving Europe.
