Peter Christie - Bideford North

Peter Christie

He is the longest serving member on the Bideford Bridge Trust where he has served three terms as chairman. He is also a trustee of the North Devon Museums Trust and chairman of the North Devon Athenaeum. Widely known for his weekly column in the North Devon Journal on Bideford life as well as the 'Yesteryear' feature he has also written for the North Devon Gazette and the Western Morning News and runs several local historical websites. He has published 41 books on North Devon (20 of these on Bideford) with another one coming out this year. He has an unrivalled knowledge of the history of Bideford and has worked hard to defend that heritage against unsuitable developments. His proposals to both town and district councils still, unusually, attract wide cross-party support – and, as always, he undertakes to work with any group who have Bideford's real interests at heart.

Peter Hames - appledore

Peter Hames

I have served as a Green Party Councillor on Braunton, Northam and Torridge councils. I have lived in Appledore ward for 22 years and was a trustee of Appledore Book Festival for thirteen years, responsible for organising the fringe events, and I organise gigs at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver, Appledore.

I live in the ward with my partner and enjoy growing vegetables, walking, playing the piano and listening to live music. We use solar power to heat our water and to generate electricity.

I have recently been elected the Mayor of Northam!
