Huw Thomas – Bideford East
GIVE BIDEFORD THE VOICE IT DESERVES!
With Westminster threatening to carve up local government and scrap most of Devon’s councils, it’s more vital than ever to have councillors who are prepared to speak out and ask questions on behalf of residents.
Although elected to Torridge District Council as a Green Party councillor, I’ll work with anyone if it achieves what’s best for all – and I want to keep fighting for Bideford and northern Devon at a county level.

Keith Funnell – Northam
Keith Funnell has lived in Torridge since 1997.
His career as a landscape architect has covered the public, private, voluntary and education sectors; it has included 13 years with two county councils, 7 years as a university lecturer and over 20 years as a self-employed professional. Much of this work has involved restoring landscapes damaged by human activity and designing outdoor spaces on school sites.
Keith advocates more immediate and comprehensive action on climate change and opposes the creeping privatisation of essential public services.
He supports local groups with landscape advice and practical conservation work and is a keen swimmer, cyclist and walker as well growing fruit and vegetables.

Tracey Beresford – Holsworthy
Tracey Beresford has been active within the Green Party since 2014, campaigning to protect social housing and for genuinely affordable new homes.
A keen (if slow!) cyclist, she has also campaigned to make walking and cycling safer for people of all ages.
Tracey and her husband, Adam, previously ran a small bakery/deli and are passionate about supporting UK farmers and food producers.
From their home in Pancrasweek they now run a holiday accommodation business and manage a small area of woodland and culm grassland, borrowing their farming neighbours’ cows for conservation grazing in spring and summer.

simon mathers – Bideford West and Hartland
Simon Mathers has lived in Bideford West for over 20 years.
He has taught in local schools and is now Assistant Principal in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Cornwall.
His three sons attended Bideford College and his wife owns a hair saloon in Barnstaple. Simon’s hobbies are cycling, surfing and cooking (he worked as a qualified chef before taking a PGCE at Exeter University).
Simon is committed to action against climate change, eradication of water pollution and support for nature recovery and bio-diversity.

Colin Jones – Torrington Rural
Colin Jones has lived in Torridge since 1993.
Spending most of his life as a lighting designer to musical combos he has travelled extensively. Moving to Devon in 1993 saw a slowing down and gradual move to television lighting work.
Colin has been involved in many actions with both Greenpeace and the Green Party and now is focussed on both climate change and pollution, plus road safety through initiatives in his home village and beyond.
I support sustainability in housing, sensible planning, safe roads, good education and a public health system.
