Councillors

Peter Hames - appledore

Peter Hames

I have served as a Green Party Councillor on Braunton, Northam and Torridge councils. I have lived in Appledore ward for 22 years and was a trustee of Appledore Book Festival for thirteen years, responsible for organising the fringe events, and I organise gigs at North Devon Jazz Club in The Beaver, Appledore.

I live in the ward with my partner and enjoy growing vegetables, walking, playing the piano and listening to live music. We use solar power to heat our water and to generate electricity.

I have recently been elected the Mayor of Northam!

Jack Gordon - Bideford Town Council

Jack Gordon Bideford Town Council

Jack Gordon, your Green Party Bideford Town Councillor, moved to Bideford in 2020. He previously spent time in Southern China teaching at one of the first forest kindergartens and then moved to Bali to build educational programmes at a leading international school that advocates sustainable development. Jack currently works for several schools in the Bideford area and as a woodworking coach to adults with special educational needs.

Jack loves exploring the countryside on foot or by bike. In China and Bali he witnessed the environmental damage caused by unrestrained and poorly planned development and wishes to help Torridge preserve its unique beauty. Jack has fallen in love with Bideford and is keen to support a sustainable future for the town.
